Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park
8542 North Lake Road
This beautiful 715 acre state park with 40 acre lake derives its name from a combination of the town of Lena and the Latin word for water, aqua. The large tracts of wooded land include oak, hickory, walnut and pine trees. Woodland flowers are on display especially in the spring and early summer, and wildlife is abundant. There is boating, fishing, swimming, picnic and playground areas, shelters, trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, equestrian trails and camping. Camping supplies, bait and boat rental are available at the camp store which is open from Memorial Day - Labor Day: Open: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Lions Park

Landscaped grounds and modern recreational facilities. The Splashland Family Water Park is a highlight with a miniature golf course next to it. Picnic and playground areas, flower gardens, a large sand area for kids, shelters, a food court, ice skating in the winter, volleyball and basketball courts, and a lighted ball diamond with concessions. Open: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Stephenson-Black Hawk Trail
This scenic 13 mile trail for hiking and biking through the rolling hills of northwest Illinois offers both history and nature. The trail, as if follows county and township roads, is partially paved. Attractions include early pioneer sites, one of the highest natural points in the state, and also Blackhawk War sites. Trail maps are available.

Trails for biking, hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Volcano Falls Adventure Park

Rockford’s newest adventure park with sports for all ages! Play miniature golf on the ground-shaking Volcano Course under the shadow of a 3-story erupting volcano or take it easy on the 9-hole Palm Course. Sharpen your sports skills in batting cages and the area’s only soccer cages, or take off around the fast and challenging go-cart track. Other attractions include a kiddie go-cart track, an arcade game room and a snack bar. Summer hours: Sunday - Thursday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
