In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the DC3/C-47, the Whiteside County Airport in Rock Falls is hosting “The Last Time” Fly-In July 24-25. The DC3/C-47 airplane played a major role in popularizing civilian air travel in the 1930’s and was converted to military use during World War II. There are only 104 planes known to exist and many of the participants are WWII veterans. “The Last Time” is intended to bring as many planes and flight crews together as possible. July 24-25 from 8a – 6p the general public will be given access to the planes for photographs and discussion with flight crews. There will be booths operated by local organizations with refreshments and food. Parking is available, but groups are encouraged to carpool..
