Jane Addams Trail
Freeport to Wisconsin Stateline
This multi-use 13-mile recreational trail offers beautiful scenery and is highlighted by 21 decked bridges passing over and through wetlands, creeks, woods, prairies, geologic formations and farmland. The trail, named after Jane Addams, is part of the Grand Illinois Trail that traverses Northern Illinois from Lake Michigan to the Mississippi River. Its crushed limestone path may be used by hikers, bicycles, snowmobiles, and cross-country skiers. Access to the trail is available at the Wes Block Trail Access on Fairview Road, off of Highway 20 two miles west of the Highway 26 intersection, or at the Richland Creek Trailhead in Orangeville, on High Street, east of Highway 26. Open from dawn to dusk.

Dutch Windmill

Manufactured in the Netherlands, and erected in Fulton by Dutch Craftsmen from Holland, this 90-foot-high operating windmill is a copy of the windmill at the Brabant town of Vorstenbach. Great RiverTrail
A 62-mile long designated biking and hiking trail runs parallel to the Mississippi River from Rock Island, IL, to Savanna, Illinois.  The Great River Trail is designated with several signs along the way for ease of navigation.  While the trail is mostly designated for pedestrians and bicyclists use only, there are some shared use roadways.

The Great River Road is a 550-mile route on Illinois' border offering breathtaking views and majestic landscapes. Heritage Canyon

A remnant of the past, this 1800's village was built inside a former rock quarry overlooking the Mississippi River.  Heritage Canyon is a 12-acre wooded nature walk dotted with buildings that take the visitor back to pioneer living.  Stroll through the park following the brick paved paths and yellow arrows.  The canyon features a log cabin settlement, one-room school house, blacksmith shop, church, general store, and much more.  The swinging bridge, a favorite among children, is made of steel-woven cables once used in quarry operations.  All of the buildings house artifacts from times past.   Open April 15 thru December 15, 9am to 5pm.

Lincoln Highway

The Lincoln Highway was the first transcontinental highway spanning from Times Square in New York City to San Francisco, California. The highway travels through Fulton, Illinois, along US Route 30 and 15th Avenue. Three miles north of Fulton along Highway 84, thousands of visitors come to view the barges and boats locking through on the widest pool in the Upper Mississippi River Basin. This lock and dam, managed by the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers, is an excellent location to view bald eagles during the winter months. Public lock & dam tours are held Sundays at 1pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Special group tours can be arranged by calling the park rangers.

Fulton is proud to announce its recent addition to the Ronald Reagan Trail. The former U.S. President's ancestral lineage began in Fulton in the mid-1800's. President Ronald Reagan's parents were both born and married in Fulton, Illinois. The former President's father, John Edward Reagan, worked in a dry goods store in downtown Fulton and his mother, Nellie Clyde Reagan, worked as a milliner in Fulton. Several of the former President's relatives including grandparents and aunts and uncles, are buried in the Fulton Catholic Cemetery.

Windmill Cultural Center

Fulton’s newest attraction, the Windmill Cultural Center (WCC), houses an extensive collection of 21 European windmills representing ten European countries. The windmills vary in size between three feet and six feet tall. The collection was designed by Henk and June Hielema of DeMotte, Indiana.
